Hi There! Every Sunday I put together a LAZY SUNDAY READING list of my favorite reads from the week. On the LAZY SUNDAY READING list you'll find important news, inspiring stories, and all-things entrepreneurship. I love a good lazy Sunday when I get to catch-up on all of the interesting articles I bookmarked during the week, but didn't have time to finish reading. Any bookmarks you'd like to share? I'd love to hear what you are reading! Leave a note in the comments sections or on social media: @SIKUstyle
Girls Education. This past week Amnesty International announced the West African singer, Angélique Kidjo, was this year's Ambassador of Conscience. She will receive her award on May 28th in Dakar, Senegal. The native of Benin is taking a stand for women's education in a region where terrorist groups such as Boko Haram want to keep women from learning. Learn more about Kidjo and her efforts here.
Voices of Jordan. Our friend, Rana Sweis, is writing a non-fiction book about the different economic, political, and social structures in Jordan through in-depth citizen stories. Check this fun video abut Rana's book.
Africa Fashion. Great collection of articles about what it will take for Africa to join the global fashion system. The Business of Fashion collection opens with "But Africa, home to one in seven people on the planet, remains on the fringes of the sector, both in terms of manufacturing and consumption." Read it all here.
Faces. We love a good photo collection and photographer Alexander Khimushin is on a mission to capture diversity around the world through the people he encounters. Khimushin has already traveled to some 80 countries in the last two years. Check out some of the photos from his project here.
Mother's Day. Learn about how renewable energy and mobile technology are changing pregnant women's lives in Cameroon. Started in 2012, Gifted Mom is a text-messaging service and app, which provides women in rural communities free health advice, sending reminders about prenatal check-ups and children’s vaccinations. Read more about it here.
